Prof. Ross McManus
Professor of Molecular Medicine - Trinity College Dublin
Professor Ross McManus graduated in genetics before completing his doctorate in genetics in TCD. He went on to study the genetics of complex diseases and in 1994 and was involved in the groundbreaking discovery of the BRCA2 breast cancer susceptibility gene, which was published in the journal Science.
He was appointed a Wellcome Trust/HRB ‘New Blood’ Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Medicine in Trinity in 1998 and has since focused on the genomics of important inherited conditions, including coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis and sepsis among others. He has been involved in several major national and international collaborative investigations into these diseases, with findings published in journals of the highest impact internationally.
He is an inventor on seven patents and has been sucessful in generating research funding from agencies including the Health Research Board, Science Foundation Ireland and the Wellcome Trust. In addition he was appointed co-PI of TCD’s PhD in Molecular Medicine structured training programme “From Molecules to Medicines”, funded by the HRB. He is cofounder of the TCD startup company PreCySe Ireland Ltd., and was previously director of Innovadis Ltd., another TCD startup.
Professor McManus is Director of the Postgraduate Training Programme in Molecular Medicine, comprising Diploma, Masters and Structured Doctoral degrees. He is chair of the Eurolife Educational Alliance, comprising Trinity and 7 other leading European universities, promoting leadership in postgraduate education and student exchanges across Europe and developing a common doctoral training programme within the Eurolife network. He has also chaired the Eurolife International Health Alliance promoting research in the area of poverty-related diseases. In addition he was curator of the Science Gallery’s highly successful HUMAN+ exhibition in 2011.

Dr John McKeon
Co-Founder & CEO - Allergy Standards Ltd.
John qualified as a medical doctor from Trinity College Dublin in 1996, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and also holds his United States Medical Licensing exams. He is also a serial entrepreneur, currently involved in his third successful start-up.
In addition to being CEO of Allergy Standards Ltd, an international Standards and certification body, John is passionate about entrepreneurship, researching the habit patterns of successful entrepreneurs, being a key note speaker and advising and mentoring a number of other start-ups.
John graduated first in his class from the Hothouse Programme in January 2001 with a Post Graduate Diploma in new business development and also won the Docklands Innovation Park awards sponsored by the Sunday Business post. He also graduated with distinction from the Dublin Institute of Technology business school with a post graduate diploma in International Selling.
John maintains a keen interest in clinical medicine and is a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine. He has had several publications in Medical journals such as 'Injury' and the European Journal of Surgery.
John is a member of the Institute of Directors and a frequent guest speaker at marketing seminars in Dublin University Business School.
He is married to Anna, also a medical doctor, and they live in Howth Co Dublin with their two young children.
